Brrrrrr ....

As the first week of 2010 is ending and most parts of the UK have experienced their share of snow and ice. Although terrible weather for traveling, it has produced some wonderful landscape photographic opportunities. This one is from a personal body of my work of images simply entitled "Ice" which are all monochrome with a blue tint to infuse that feeling of coldness yet great beauty in to them.

This capture was part of a section on small brook which had managed to just thaw out enough to allow for some flow of water and the surviving ice on the twig in the foreground had been reduced to a bobbing ball of ice which I think works to great effect in the image.

The lighting was very poor I think this was shot at ISO 3200 using a Lensbaby at F4 to control the focal point so that the sphere of ice and the edge of the ice flow remain in focus which couldn't be achieved with conventional lens.
