Macro test set up with T & S bellows |
Back in January I posted an article about planning photographic work and setting creative goals.
At that time I had said that it wasn't a good idea to simply roll over projects into the following year, as I had made the mistake of doing, because these should be reviewed regularly to ensure they are still worthwhile investments of ones personal time and resources.
It has taken me a further six months to actually review my own personal project work, one of things that had changed significantly for me was working far more in the studio, not only with my commercial work, but also my personal work and I felt I needed to have goals that reflected this charge of direction. I also worth noting that I find that commercial and personal work can run very close along side each other with a good cross fertilision of ideas as they go, this is also an economical use use of resources.
Most of 2013 has therefore revolved around macro photography, changing focal planes through using tilt and shift technology and painting with light in lots of different ways including the use of light from many sources including: UV, Laser, LED, Fibre Optics & Flames.
One thing has often progressed to another, as a natural progression, and I have tried to keep the momentum of this going where I have seen a potential for further development. One example of this has been with the use of LED hoops that was a suggestion from a friend after seeing my work with torch lights and lasers to explore further, and has led me to do some different colaborative projects with different performers who use this as part of there acts.
