The essential part of being a social photographer is to get the best out of you clients ...and yes make them laugh ... they need to feel totally relaxed and actually enjoy being photographed ...it may be obvious but how any times do you see group shots that look more like a line up for a firing squad ...?
Think about it if you are a professional photographer you should be getting your clients to laugh and enjoy their photographic experience, if you are not doing this you either need to start or find another profession were getting people to enjoy themselves isn't a requirement, like being an undertaker ..!!
