Over the coming weeks I am going to give you a brief tour of my first major solo exhibition entitled "A Grand Day Out" by giving an overview of each of the eight collections and how it was created starting with this one:
“The end of the pier”
This is a photographic study of one of our most famous British seaside resorts, Southport, and it’s pier.
The images are scans of the original Polaroid prints, and have not had any significant editing, other than dust removal. The rather surreal look and colours have been enhanced by using out of date film stock and much diffused lighting, as a result of heavy cloud cover, which is not too uncommon when holidaying in Britain.
Here is a place to rest and reflect. Please enjoy your stay.
There is also a book available with this collection:
Photo Tip: These shots were taken with a SX-70 camera using ArTisticZ out of date instant Polaroid film. It is unlikely that this exact image can ever be recreated as such film is now in short supply and the effect was very dependant on the aging process of this batch of film. However the good news is that the Impossible Project are now again making instant film and the instability of this new film is perfect for creative image creation.
