“BP RM MB 10”

This is a collection of monochrome images inspired by the iconic 1962 British "Vogue" fashion photoshoot of Jean Shrimpton by David Bailey.

The artist chose Blackpool as the location for his interpretation of Bailey’s work for a variety of reasons; it still has some elements of the 1960's about it, as well as some very well known landmarks such as the pier and tower, and it combines this with a certain look of the surreal that holiday resorts can have.

The model for this project was Raphaella McNamara, who brought her own unique style, being both a model and dancer, as did Winston the bear.

There is also a book available with this collection:

Photo Tip: This series of images was captured over a five month period and involved some four visits to the location, most of the images were captured with model in couple of short afternoons, therefore the choice of model was very important as I knew Raphaella would fully understand my brief and bring some of her style to what I wanted to create. The images are mainly captured digitally although the initial plan was use the same film stock and camera as the 1962 shoot, however as the first "test "shoot with digital was so good this became the norm for 70% of the images. The "film" look was produced in Photoshop using the same technique to ensure consistency. To see the original work follow this link ..."NY JS DB 62"
