‘Derelict Hotel’
The hotel has come the end of its life. The many paying guests who once stayed here have long since gone. It is now empty and in a state of dereliction.
Everything of value was sold or otherwise removed. The vandals quickly moved in for the thrill and sound of breaking glass. The natural elements have worked quickly on decaying the fabric of the building.
Some of the out-of-the-way rooms receive new ‘guests’, unseen by daylight, but clearly human, who board up smashed windows and rearrange broken furniture like a ghostly room service.
Photo Tips: This study was over an eighteen month period I didn't expect the building to remain accessible for this length of time, but it was. So when I started I had no idea of knowing if I had a viable long term project so sometimes you have to start a project and let it evolve. I do a lot of person project work with other photographers however for this particular one I was on my own, and had a few scary moments so I would recommend working with someone else in such situations.
