Christmas Cards to a wider audience ……

Last year I wrote a blog article about producing your own Christmas cards as that was something that I had then been doing for quite a few years. This year I have gone teen further and produced a small collection of cards.

I never like to think about Christmas too early so every year the creative process around the Christmas card is a little rushed, and I didn't start this project until October !!! To some extent though I thought I had already covered it, because last year I shot several options and could easily have used one of those instead. However the opportunity presented itself to produce a very novel collection of 1950's style Pin Up Christmas images and within a couple of weeks I was in a position to sit down and select 6 cards for this collection from a possible 15 plus images that were produced working with a brilliant model specialising in this genre (Laura Norrey).

The selected six images have gone off to the printers today,  and will be this year for the first time be commercially available as Christmas cards either as sets or individually by 1st December or earlier.

Below are the six images customers will be able to choose from:

My tips would certainly be to plan this early if you are ding this now I suggest you are possible too late to do such a project justice, but I would certainly put it your diary to either do next year and may be still to shoot this year but with a plan to use the images next Christmas.

I am sure also that I could maximise on the commercial success of these images, if I wished by offer them as micro image stock, but somehow it never appeals to me to sell my work for pence. even though in theory a large number of sales would still give an overall good return. It however is something for future exploration especially if I increase my number of collections of this type of work.
